Time for some fun as we get ready to start our journey towards Easter! Tuesday 4th March this year is the day before Lent begins. It's known as Shrove Tuesday. In older times, people would fast from rich foods during Lent, so the day before Lent they would cook things which used up certain foods. In particular, butter and eggs needed to be used up and pancakes became a great idea to use them! The tradition of eating pancakes has continued.
So bring on the pancakes! Our Pancake Party will be hosted in an Auckland home from 4pm. We'll have pancakes and a variety of toppings. If you have a favourite topping for your pancakes, why not bring it along to share?
Please contact us if you are interested to come and we’ll provide full details of the venue and the arrangements.
(The name "Shrove Tuesday" comes from an old English word "shrive" which means to confess your sins to be forgiven. Penitence has been a spiritual practice closely linked with the season of Lent.)
