Our Team

Hi there!  If you’re new to South Harbour Vineyard and are checking out who we are and what we’re about, we’re really glad you’ve stopped by our website! We’d love to get to know you, and would be happy to answer any questions you have about us as a church or chat about any elements of life or faith.

You can find out more about our team below.  Please do get in touch with any of us via our church email southharbourvineyard@gmail.com or call us on 09 948 7427.  We’re a relaxed bunch who aim to be family to one another as we seek to follow Jesus and live out our faith by bringing the life of Jesus to our City of Sails.
We’d love you to be a part of what God is doing among us and through us!

Martyn Day

Pastor

Martyn and his wife Honor planted the South Harbour Vineyard in March 2020.  Martyn has been an ordained church minister since 2009.  He has a passion for helping people to love, learn and live God’s Word in the Bible and he loves to equip people to live in the fullness of the Holy Spirit.  He is the founder of the website Mariners, which provides resources for Bible reading.

Martyn did a number of jobs prior to being a church minister, including being a maths teacher and an event manager.  Martyn is hopeless at DIY, but likes cooking (Honor is thankful that most of his meals are edible!) and devours books.  You are quite likely to see him on the Duolingo app trying to get his head round a number of different languages.  You would make him a very happy man by supplying him with a cup of tea and a nice piece of cake!

Honor Day

Honor is married to Martyn and so behind the scenes is the sounding board to all his bright ideas! Much of her week is filled up with caring for Mums and Mums-to-be working as a doctor in the Women's Health department of Middlemore Hospital. She loves community and beauty and so can be found at church doing anything that facilitates those dynamics. Working with our younger ones is a great excuse to dress up and have a giggle. Honor wishes she could be as creative as her imagination wishes she could. A good day off is out in the beautiful green countryside and coast and meals outside with family and friends.

Older primary/intermediate children’s leader

John Corban

John has led church worship for over 25 years.  He is happily married to Stephanie and is the proud father of Hannah and Caleb.  John works as an accountant and in his spare time enjoys exercising, learning jazz guitar, and playing in a classic rock covers band.

Worship Leader

Stephanie Corban

Stephanie loves being involved with the preschoolers and the opportunity to share the love of Jesus with them. She is a mother to two young adult children and her day job means she is usually in front of computer, so she enjoys the jumping and energy and creativity of our Hikihiki sessions. When she does find time to relax, she enjoys reading a book (in hard copy) and long walks.

Pre-school children’s leader

Hannah Corban

Hannah leads our Ngutupare children's programme alongside Honor. She is passionate about tamariki (children) and rangatahi (young people) discovering that Jesus wants to have a personal relationship with them. She also loves getting to lead worship with her dad and brother. During the week she is on placement as a medical student and in her free time she is itching to get outdoors on sunny days to the beach or on a hike!

Older primary/intermediate children’s leader

Pre-school children’s leader

Debbie Kennedy

Debbie has been involved with the church from the beginning.  She is on the Pastoral Care Team and a member of the Board.  Debbie enjoys welcoming and getting to know new visitors to the church.  She is married to John and they have two adult sons and a teenage daughter. In her downtime you will find Debbie either walking her dog, catching up on a TV drama or lost in her latest book.
