Hello!

Thinking about trying a church? We’d love to see you.

Here are a few answers to the questions you may have.

  • We meet each Sunday between mid-February and Christmas at 3.30pm at the West End Rowing Club, 26 Saunders Place, Avondale, Auckland, with a more limited arrangement over the summer. Please contact us for more details of summer services.

  • There’s a relaxed afternoon tea first of all where you can grab a hot drink and a delicious piece of homemade cake. Our times together feature contemporary worship songs, church family news with interviews with church members about what God is doing in their lives, Bible teaching, prayer and opportunities to be open to the work of the Holy Spirit.

  • Not at all. Our gatherings are open to everyone, regardless of whether you have a faith or not. We hope you would find any of our gatherings a great opportunity to explore the relevance of Christian faith for your life. If you’d like to explore the bigger questions of life, faith and meaning, then we encourage you to join our next Alpha course.

  • Nope. Our services are very relaxed, so there’s no special dress code.

  • There’s no charge to attend our Sunday gatherings. The church is funded by donations from its regular members, but we don’t take up any collections during any of our gatherings.

There is a charge for some of the courses we run. See our courses page for more details.

  • Yes, at various times of the year, we run a special Newcomers meal after our Sunday service. This is a two-course meal with a short presentation in-between the courses on the vision and values of the church, plus an interview with a church member who shares their experience of being part of the church. Then there’s opportunities for questions over dessert. You can find out more from our Newcomers’ event page.

  • The best way to feel you belong at South Harbour Vineyard is to get involved in helping out! There’s lots of opportunities to connect into the SHV church community. You can dive into a wide range of courses, join our monthly online prayer gathering, serve on a Sunday in practical ways, or get involved beyond Sundays by joining a community initiative like Love your Neighbour.

For those who are actively exploring connection with the church, we can add you into our weekly church e-news and church whānau Facebook group.

If you’re keen to be more involved, we’d love to chat with you to explore the most suitable and rewarding opportunities for you to pursue.

“He's given me a church experience that is genuine, loving and not pretentious.
I am very content, grateful and full in my heart. Thank you!!”
